Spirits weren't necessarily high in the Dodgers locker room following a 4-3 defeat to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The loss snapped a two game winning streak, and things won't get any easier when the four time defending National League East champion Philadelphia Phillies visit Chavez Ravine and put defending Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay on the mound.
When asked by pouched ZWR correspondent Matt Gelb about the prospects of facing Halladay, star outfielder Andre Ethier responded:
Pour soulever un poids si lourd,Looks like someone has a case of the Mondays.
— Maint joyau dort enseveli
Dans les ténèbres et l'oubli,
Bien loin des pioches et des sondes;
Mainte fleur épanche à regret
Son parfum doux comme un secret
Dans les solitudes profondes.

Perhaps if he tried to drop a deuce, he'd be alright. Cole Hamels knows! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3P571Ox-74#t=0m10s
ReplyDeletevous ne gagnerez pas Ethier!
ReplyDeleteI was going to guess Baudelaire but it's in the labels. You couldn't find a more obscure French poet -- Apollinaire, Valery? I suppose those aren't very obscure either. Met's fans should read Cioran -- ZING french literature joke.
ReplyDeleteThat's just Luke being Luke
